Every March since 1986, the greatest dance music event takes place in Miami. Founded by DJs Louis Possenti and Bill Kelly it soon turned out to be the world’s leading dance event with thousands of visitors stuffing Downtown Miami and South Beach to watch their favorite DJs and producers perform their unreleased tracks and find out the future trends in House Music.
Hundreds of artists, producers, promoters, record labels representatives and consumer electronics companies attend this event, where they show their products or look for innovative software. Special programs are being promoted with which anyone can produce music from his computer or laptop and then upload it on professional mixers to work with it and make samples.
During the week the conference takes place, there are over 500 individual events like South Beach Sessions, The Producers Forum, The WMC Seminars and Panels, The Exhibits, The DJ Spin-Off, The VJ Challenge and many others, among which the most important are the Ultra Music Festival and the International Dance Music Awards (IDMA).
The Ultra Music Festival was founded in 1999 and was first held in South Beach as a one day event. It is nowadays a 3-day festival and continues to bring the biggest names in Dance Music as Tiesto, Sasha, John Digweed, Paul Oakenfold, Paul Van Dyk, David Guetta, Carl Cox, Armin Van Buuren, Moby, Underworld, Prodigy, Swedish House Mafia, Chris Fortier, John Creamer and so many others.
The International Dance Music Awards are another important factor for the WMC’s popularity. Over the last decade it has brought hundreds of worldwide established DJs like Layo and Bushwacka, Pete Tong, Frankie Knuckles, Jimmy Van M, Darren Emerson, Danny Tenaglia, Lee Burridge, Deep Dish, Way Out West, Miss Kittin and even more upcoming talents to promote their music.
I assume you all music maniacs would die for an insight tour, but this is the best I can do for you.
